CATHY BIEL, PRINCIPAL OF SCHOOL
I have been at St. Alexander School for the numerous years. I spent eight years teaching second grade, eight years as Assistant Principal, and I completed my first year as Principal at the end of the 2009/2010 school year.
I did my undergraduate work at Loyola University in Chicago, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University in Evanston, and a Master in School Leadership from Concordia University in River Forest.
The strong sense of community at St. Alexander Parish is the main reason I have chosen to continue my career here. We are blessed with an outstanding faculty and we serve wonderful families and students.
CATHY SULLIVAN, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR & Parish Center Director
I came to St. Alexander in September 1980, hired by Fr. John Crosby as the Director for the newly constructed John M. Crosby Parish Center. My degree is in Recreation and Park’s Administration and I have also completed the Chicago Archdiocese’s ‘Called & Gifted’ two year ministry program.
My primary responsibilities include coordinating religious, school, social, athletic events and programs held in the Parish Center; Director of the Athletic Association and Booster Club Boards; facility and athletic field improvements and safety; special events coordination and administration including, but not limited to, the annual parish picnic, golf outing, and AFC/NFC Football Championship fundraiser. I founded the St. Alexander Girl’s Volleyball League in 1985, now comprising of 37 Parishes and 220 teams, and the Parish Athletic League in 2000 for boy’s volleyball and 2006 for girl’s and boy’s basketball.
Our Parish Community is very active and my ministry philosophy is to provide ‘something for everyone’. I am proud to be an integral piece of the religious, educational, social and athletic needs of St. Alexander!
